There are moments in life when we feel like we’re sinking—when responsibilities pile up, when the future feels uncertain, when fears seem to be pulling us under. The good news of the gospel isn’t that faith keeps us out of deep water, but that Christ meets us in the deep - in the storm, in the flood, in the belly of the fish.

During this series we’ll use water stories - the Flood, Jonah, Jesus calming the storm, parting the Red Sea - and draw on Douglas John Hall’s Theology of the Cross, to see how God not a distant rescuer from suffering but as the One who enters it - holding us in love and hope when we can’t hold ourselves. Grace, we discover, isn’t about escaping the water. It’s about learning that it’s in the sometimes chaotic, turbulent waters, we are held.

Grace isn’t the promise that life will be “smooth sailing.” It’s the promise of God’s presence in the storm. When life pulls you under, God’s grace keeps you afloat.
